The north side of a snowbank, with the sun shining over the top of it just enough to light up the frost-covered fragile grass that had somehow remained standing in two feet of snow.

Been There, Done That (Mostly)

Having grown up in Wichita and driven back and forth from there to Montana and Idaho many times over the years (o.k. decades) I can relate to this. I’ve seen the first Pizza Hut, the world’s largest ball of twine and the concrete teepee I’ve been by (but for some reason not in) the underground salt museum. I don’t know how I missed the giant Van Gogh easel as I’ve driven by Goodland countless times on I-70. One thing (at least) Zippy missed that I’ve been to though is the Garden of Eden, which is strange given it’s proximity to the world’s largest ball of twine. I’ve also seen M.T. Liggett’s political sculptures which are strange enough to put even Zippy a little bit on edge.

I haven’t done a flag photo in some time. Even without the flag, the combination of the bull rider and the pedestrian sign makes this an interesting composition.

What is it about a bare stick or two protruding from the snow that gives a frigid feeling no matter what the temperature actually is?

New Blog Format

I’m experimenting with a new blog format. It is optimized for better viewing on smart phones and other mobile devices. The mobile oriented format in fact does make for a better viewing experience on my smart phone but the visual look of the blog comes across as rather unrefined, especially when viewed on a computer screen rather than a mobile device. Unfortunately it doesn’t appear to be particularly customizable in ways the old format was, so it’s hard to change things much.

I’ll have to think about whether or not to keep to this new format or revert back to the old one. Any comments pro or con about this new look would be greatly appreciated–after all I’m not the target audience!
