This guy was the significant other of one of the artists near me at the Utah Arts Festival in June. Why he chose to put his chair right out in the middle of things instead of tucked up against a tree or otherwise out of the traffic flow like other folks were doing is a mystery to me. Maybe he figured the more exposed he was the more likely he was to feel the bare hint of a breeze that would come through now and then in the 100 degree heat. Fortunately the heat was also keeping the attendance at the show low during the middle of the day so he didn’t get run over by folks like he would normally.

  1. Heat keeping people away may have been good for this reader but probably not so good for the artists. Hope your event was lucrative despite the heat.

    1. Kathy, for me anyway there seems to be an odd positive relationship between how uncomfortably hot it is and how hot the sales are, so yeah, it was a good show.

Probably because you don’t have all the gawkers and only those serious enough to buy show up when it is scorching hot and without all the other traffic they feel more comfortable making a purchase.

    1. I always thought it was because they were delirious with the heat and didn’t know what they were doing! Actually, most sales occur in the cooler evening hours when the smart people with discriminating tastes wait to show up. 🙂
