The main approach to Sacre Coeur from the nearest Metro station is lined on both sides with shops whose main goal is to part tourists from as much money as possible before they reach the bottom of the steps leading up to the basilica.]]>

  1. Larry, you do an excellent job with these night shots of Paris! Wasn’t it Brassai who also prowled the byways of Paris by Night (book title)? Love the atmosphere of these, though I don’t think I would feel comfortable making the rounds alone as you have apparently done.

    1. Thanks Kathy. Yeah it was Brassai (Paris et Nuit was the original French name I believe, Paris by Night here). You have to realize that while I was out after dark, it was never late (too old for that) and there were almost always at least some other (non-threatening looking) people around, so I don’t think it was too dangerous. Might have been a different story later at night I suppose but then if I’d been out then I might have gotten one of those Midnight in Paris experiences! Actually I guess for many people midnight isn’t even that late!
