POTD: Escaping South

Escaping South
Cathedral Gorge State Park, Nevada
2021

Our first destination on this trip was Cathedral Gorge State Park in Nevada, it was just far enough south and lower in elevation to get out of the early morning snowstorm we drove through to get there. We made it over the pass on the snow slick roads just fine but had to drive around two larger travel trailers whose tow vehicles lost traction and stranded them in the middle of the lane.

POTD: A Flat Tire and a Hot Radiator

A Flat Tire and a Hot Radiator
Gold Butte National Monument, Nevada
2021

On the 19th of March, two weeks after our second covid vaccinations and a day after our last of a suite of doctors appointments we’d been putting off since last year, we finally left on the road for our first out of state trip since March 2020. Our in-state adventures last summer were great, but there’s nothing like a big desert road trip as far as I’m concerned. We are also excited to be in a warmer clime for a change. I’m happy to report that we experienced neither a flat tire or hot radiator and saw some much more exciting scenery than depicted on this sign on the way into the Gold Butte National Monument.
