POTD: Places of Color
Places of Color Grenada, Nicaragua 2013
As my oeuvre suggests, I’m predisposed to think in black and white when photographing. But some places literally demand that I work more in color than I normally do. Grenada is obviously one such location. You’ll still see a number of black and white images in my posts from here, but color is going to dominate–possibly by shear numbers; definitely by visual sensual impact. POTD: Bienvenido a Grenada
Bienvenido a Grenada Grenada, Nicaragua 2013
It was perhaps an auspicious coincidence that we planned a two week trip to Nicaragua to start the day after a major cold front settled in on Montana. We left Bozeman early Thursday morning just as the thermometer settled in at 25 below zero. That’s 116 degrees colder than the high temperature in Grenada the last two days. Given my druthers, I’d pick somewhere in between those two numbers but I am not complaining much.
I have abruptly ended the series of POTD photos from my artist residency in Arizona, but assuming I can stay out of the pool long enough, I will soon have a web page up with many more photos from that experience.

Lectio #47 Hubbell Trading Post, Arizona 2013
A shelf from one of the many bookcases in the Hubbell House. Assuming they read at least a good portion of these books, the Hubbells were well read, well mannered, and up on various aspects of women’s health. Oddly enough, we have a copy of Tokology (the women’s health book) on our shelf. The fashion queen purchased it at a garage sale for decoration rather than illumination. Turns out it’s author, Alice Bunker Stockham was quite an interesting figure from back in the late 19th century.]]>
