This is actually the same piece of cardboard that appeared in The Process #2 back in March. I like the overall composition of this one more and the effect of the ding in the cardboard less than the one that appeared in the earlier image.

The Process #5 Bozeman, Montana 2013

The Process #4 Bozeman, Montana 2013

When you print photographs using an inkjet printer, even though the ink dries to the touch almost immediately, it continues to outgas for sometime afterwards. This outgassing can fog glass if a print is framed too early. Stacked prints can be interleaved with sheets of plain paper in order to speed the outgassing process. The interleaving paper absorbs the gas as it comes off the prints and because this somewhat dampens the paper, an impression of the edges of the print sometimes appear on the interleaving paper.  Those edge patterns from multiple prints, lit by dappled sunlight coming in my studio window, made for the very nice abstract composition seen here.

This dried stem from a dried Arrowleaf Balsamroot bloom has the look of a winding road heading off into the distance.

Latent Potential #7 Bozeman, Montana 2013

A little different direction on this one with a background texture layered behind the grass stems. I thought it turned out nicely. While I had envisioned this series to be all done with a white background, I’m having second thoughts now.]]>

I’m sure there a more correct name, but I’ve always called these foxtails.
