POTD: Latent Potential #7

POTD: Latent Potential #7Latent Potential #7 Bozeman, Montana 2013

A little different direction on this one with a background texture layered behind the grass stems. I thought it turned out nicely. While I had envisioned this series to be all done with a white background, I’m having second thoughts now.]]>

  1. This is very nice, Larry! Gives the impression of the grass growing in front of a stucco or concrete wall. I like the monochrome color too!

    1. Thanks Kathy. I’m going to have to do some more playing around with the added layers. (I keep wanting to call them background layers which is what they seem like but in reality they are layered on top of the grass image.)

  2. Frankly, I prefer the starkness of the white background. Since this is clearly not a series of growing things as much as it is about design and composition, I prefer the classic background. If you chose encaustic overlays, that should provide enough texture.

    1. You’re right Connie, this series was supposed to be more about design and competition and the overlay backgrounds detract from that. Still I like this particular image with the overlay, perhaps because it is in some sense the least design oriented. Definitely going to have to work on two different series. I can imagine which one will be more marketable.
