POTD: The Pietmobile

POTD: The PietmobileThe Pietmobile Bozeman, Montana 2013

Spotted this on the street in Bozeman the other day–wonder what Mondrian would have thought of this tribute to his work.

  1. Since you are headed to the City of Art and Fashion, are you aware of any examples there of “light art”? Originally termed about the work of the Hungarian artist Laszlo Moholy-Nagy ( you may have encountered in Budapest) beginning in 1922. Also termed light artists are Rauschenber and Johns, but Turrell is the best known and is presently working on the Roden Crater outside of Flagstaff. Remember ask for Freedom fries, the Frenchies don’t know about French fries.

    1. Steve, I knew of Moholy-Nagy’s contributions to photography, but did not realize that he had such a career as an artist in other mediums as well. Nor did (do) I know anything about “light art”. I’ll have to keep my eyes open for that. Freedom Fries–got it. I guess if I really want some fries, I’ll have to ask for pommes frites, not that anyone there seems to be able to understand my terrible Americanized butchering of their beautiful language. I like menus with photos I can point at!
