Dancing the Two-Step Bozeman, Montana 2012
Connie was on the phone the other day for two hours and twenty minutes (by her count) with an old high-school chum. At some point during that time I noticed through the window of my studio that she was out in the driveway making this pattern in the new snow that had fallen overnight. By the time her phone call was done her side-stepping slow dance had completely covered the driveway as well as the sidewalk to the front door. It’s gone now but I’m still trying to figure out if it was conceptual art or installation art or a mixture of the two perhaps even overlapping a bit into performance art.]]>
Obviously, Connie is an artist, too! Only a true artist would spend two hours and twenty minutes out in the cold making art. It’s pretty cool in both senses of the word.
I used to doodle while on the phone too, but for some reason that escapes logic that went away when I switched to using a cell phone.
Cool yes, she wasn’t wearing a coat, just a sweatshirt. I guess all the creative juices kept her warm.
I love that Connie did that! I doodle incessantly during phone conversations. Never thought of doing it with my feet in the snow.
I second the comment of “COOL”! And more in the line that you *saw* this and recorded something ephemeral in the world. THAT is what’s really cool about photography.
Thanks Kathy (from me and Connie).
I’m still trying to figure out how she did it so perfectly
Practice, practice, practice?
