POTD: When Zebras Settle Down

When Zebras Settle Down
Wichita, Kansas
2011

Kansas isn’t know for it’s trees, and what trees it does have tend not to be the straight growing varieties. So builders of log cabins had to make due with whatever they could get their hands on. This particular cabin wall looks like it is as much chinking as it is log, giving it a surprisingly pleasing zebra-esque look.

  1. Love this photo. Obviously like the “zebra-like” quality of the logs but I’m also drawn to the reflection in the window. I’ve always been fascinated by windows and love the reflections they create. There was just a segment on Sunday Morning about a gallery showing of paintings that include windows and how the framing of the window completely changes the image. I’m guessing you probably have a series of photos that deals with that exact topic!

    1. Thanks Judy, and, yes, I do have quite a collection of window photos–as do you if I recall. At least I remember one with flying pigs that I really liked.

  2. I am amazed that you remember the flying pigs photo – it was one of those happy accidents. Windows and doors – I love to look at/take photos of them. Hope all is well with you.

    1. Judy, I always remember good photographs. Things are good here. Hope the same is true for you. I know you’re having a lot of fun with your new grandchild!

  3. Thanks, Larry. Grandchild is pretty awesome. Hope you saw photos of her on Facebook. Was going through Derek’s baby stuff the other day – came across the Cookie Monster puppet you gave him.
