I like the way the snow highlights the arrangement of roof and wall shapes on these farm outbuildings.

  1. Great image, Larry! I like the stark contrast between buildings and snow.

    Some of the details that really help this photo are the bits of uncovered roof line of the rear building that separates the snow-covered roof from the white sky. There’s a similar line along the top of the small middle building separating it from the building behind. As someone who has photographed snow-covered roofs against white skies where the two merge together, I really appreciate these two details that helped make this image. Even though you likely had no control over these features at all! 🙂

    1. Thanks for the thoughtful analysis Kathy. You can of course control the features to a point anyway via exposure. If that does not work then it’s not a publishable shot!
