I saw the critters, some sort of crustacean. Looked kind of like a three inch long locust but with a shell. They come up to the surface and wander around a bit before digging back into the sand. I poked one and it immediately took a nosedive into the sand. But it only went halfway in. If I’d have been a seagull it would have been lunch.
