I wish I could say this photo was leftover from “last” winter, but I’m afraid last is not the proper descriptor. This was taken in the early evening the day before yesterday. Earlier in the day it was sunny and 65 degrees. Snow can be beautiful any time of the year; it’s just harder to appreciate other than on an aesthetic basis in April compared to December.

Like the POTD from two days ago this photo is also from the Hirshorn Museum. I believe there is only one piece of art in this photo, the painting on the right. However, I found the dark doorway on the left an equally compelling composition. It is unusual that the information tag for the painting was actually placed just to the right of the doorway rather than next to the painting. Perhaps the installer was a little confused as to which was which, or perhaps I am.

Up close the cracked paint on a bumper looks like an aerial view of subdivision roads on a rugged landscape.

I came across this photo from 2003 when I was taking a quick tour through the way-back machine on my computer the other day. This photo was taken at the Hirshorn Museum on the National Mall in D.C. If you’ve ever been to the Hirshorn, or any other similar modern and contemporary art museum (e.g. the Tate Modern, MOMA, or the Pompidou Centre) that shows cutting edge stuff, you know how serious a question this is. You just never know.

Bison Descending a Staircase

With apologies to De Champ, this was my poor attempt at a tribute to my favorite cubist painting, Nude Descending a Staircase. While it failed to do justice to De Champ in particular or the cubist movement in general, I still kind of like it.

Traffic Signals

I know what a dashed line means on a road, I know what a solid line means and I know what various combinations of those things mean. I don’t have a clue what this means other than perhaps that the stripe painting equipment needs some adjustment.

I’ve been busy printing photos for my “Rockscape” exhibition at the 4Ravens Gallery in Missoula. It will be hanging there for the month of June.
