Beyond the Veil #1 Budapest, Hungary 2011
It’s amazing what little it takes sometimes to spawn a series of photographs on a particular theme. This shot was among some I took at a flea market in Budapest. The boy’s face being partly hidden by the box when he turned his head unexpectedly was an unintended part of the composition. When I was reviewing the photos at the end of the day, I noticed there was also a second photo with a face that had been partially concealed by accident. In the days after that, I caught myself noticing all sorts of scenes with partially hidden faces and a series was born. I eventually expanded it to include photos of partially obscured people in general (not just faces).]]>
Nice “decisive moment” shot. Well done. I like your ideas about working on a theme.
Thanks Bruce. The theme approach is relatively new to me. Must be Brooks Jenson’s influence.
I was interested in the box – Iron Mountain or I think it is. It is the same company we use in Birmingham, AL to archive records and things.
Kind of funny to see that at a swap meet in Budapest and also what catches people’s eye in a photograph.
