Distant Friends
Budapest, Hungary
2011
A view through the Fisherman’s Bastion. I think it’s funny how this structure is described in some of the travel books. It is a striking structure but they talk about it almost as if it were sort of a fake Disneyland kind of thing because it was only built a mere 110-120 years ago instead of in the medieval age whose architecture it characterizes. I hope I get more respect than that when I’m 110 but I probably won’t–my architecture is no where near this impressive.

This underground tram stop near the apartment we stayed in in Budapest has the look of a pinball machine. That’s Connie playing the part of the ball. Merry Christmas!

Background Noise

With all the graffiti shouting in the background, it’s a wonder this guy could even hear the person he was talking to on the phone.

Mr. Bojangles
Budapest, Hungary
2011
I didn’t see this guy dance a lick but he and his dog brought the song Mr. Bojangles to mind. Jerry Jeff Walker wrote the song and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band had the most popular recording of it, but my favorite version is by David Bromberg. Most of the song versions don’t mention the name of the dog but I believe it is Teddy. Here’s to Josie, Buddha and all the other Teddys out there.

Another rest stop from walking (this time on the steps of the Museum of Fine Arts) and another photo of legs–some tired and some not.
