POTD: Pig on a Stick

Pig on a Stick Adrian, Texas 2002

I’ve been traveling in the WABAC machine again, this time to Adrian, Texas where apparently someone with a sense of humor and some time on their hands lives (or lived). Andrian is the half-way point between Chicago and Santa Monica, CA on Route 66.]]>

POTD: The Well-Informed Gargoyle

The Well-Informed Gargoyle Bozeman, Montana 2012

This guy is from a less exotic location (a bookend in my studio) than yesterday’s gargoyles. With his nose in a book, I hope he’s reading up on responsible voting rather than some dark spell–unless that spell is intended to influence the voting next week in a positive way, i.e., the way I’d like to see things turn out. But if that were the case, I guess at least from my point of view it wouldn’t be a dark spell at all.]]>

POTD: Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! Paris, France 2002

I was spending some time in the WABAC Machine (a.k.a. in my case as the many folders of old photos on my hard drive) and came across this from my photos of Paris ten years ago. (“Mr. Sherman, set the WABAC machine to Paris in 2002.”) It was taken with my first ever digital camera, a 5mp Sony F707, a very advanced camera in it’s time. Anyway, it seemed appropriate for Halloween. Note, if all this WABAC stuff makes sense to you then, well, you’re probably as ancient as I am. Actually I always thought of it as just the Wayback Machine. It wasn’t until I read about it on Wikipedia that I realized it was a reference to early computers such as the UNIVAC. I wonder if I knew that back then; probably not as I would not likely have cared about such things when I was nine or ten.]]>

POTD: Roadworn

Roadworn Southeast Idaho 2012

I took this on the way home from the art fair in Jackson, Wyoming last summer on an overcast day made even more dreary by August’s ever present forest fire smoke (oh, and a little Photoshop enhancement as well). I was feeling a little roadworn (but relieved) myself, having finished my eighth art fair road trip in less than three months.]]>

POTD: Transition

Transition Bozeman, Montana 2012

Another bit of color along with some snow; the transition from a kodachrome fall to a Tri-X winter. (Tri-X was my favorite black and white film back in the old darkroom days.) Here’s a related video but I must say I don’t agree with his comment about black and white. ]]>
