Yogi and Boo Boo Test My Smarts

“You untie it Boo Boo and I’ll catch it when it falls.” It honestly took me about five or six iterations before I finally came up with an almost 100% bear proof bird feeder that is still easy to refill. (I say almost 100% because I can see a bear one day actually untying the rope on the pole.) I don’t know if I’m actually smarter than Yogi because he’s smarter than the average bear, and this may not actually be Yogi and Boo Boo. But as of last fall when our trailcam caught this image, I’m so far smarter than these two bears because they went away empty pawed.
I know there’s a way to get that. I’ll figure it out. Maybe.

If you can come up with a design to keep the Band Tailed Pigeons off the feeders I would appreciate it.
We have pigeon (banded or not I don’t know) problems occasionally at our feeder in town, and also trying to perch on our roof ridge and gutters. Putting pigeon spikes along the roof helped. Banging on our gutters when they land there keeps them away when we’re here. Our feeder has one of those wire cages around it which keeps them out except the songbirds are a messy bunch of eaters and keep knocking stuff on the ground which then provides food for the pigeons (and mice). It’s a running battle but I guess a good form of mild exercise chasing things now and then.
