POTD: Crescent Moon

Crescent Moon
Bozeman, Montana
2020

It’s not looking good for being able to view the upcoming conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn at their closest in hundreds of years on Monday. The weather forecast is showing lots of clouds for the next week. On the 11th, the last really clear evening we’ve had, we walked over to the ridge west of our house and saw them as they were starting to get close together. A couple of nights ago I went back after seeing a bit of blue sky in the west as the sun was going down. While I was nicely rewarded with this nice view of the crescent moon, the haze of clouds made Jupiter hard to see and Saturn not visible at all. (Don’t bother looking for them in this photo–they were out of the frame.)
