The Process #7

The shapes, textures, and colors of this piece of cardboard used for spray paint overspray in my shop caught my eye the other day so I had to photograph it. They say that if you create a work of art that everybody appreciates, then you’re not really producing serious art. I’m guessing this photo easily meets the “if” qualification in that statement. Unfortunately the inverse of the statement is not true, so who knows if this is serious art or not. But also as “they” (whoever they are) say, I don’t know much about art but I know what I like.
Well, this is day 2 1/2 of a 2 week quarantine, so I am taking this opportunity to drink coffee & look at all of the POTDs I haven’t yet seen. So far, this one really caught my eye. I like everything about it: the ribbed texture of the cardboard, the colors, the contrast and the whole composition. When the elements of design are there, whether consciously or unconsciously, it can be very appealing.
(A co-worker got Covid-19 from her farmer husband, who had never felt the need to take precautions, as he is around very few people. Now those few people have the virus. Fortunately, us library co-workers just tested negative. It makes me feel better about our cloth and surgical masks. The irony is that the threat came from our side of the plexiglass.)
Thanks for the comments Connie and sorry about the Covid-19 scare. I hope that all you get from your quarantine is a chance to catch up on things like the POTDs! And yes, how ironic that it came from the “safe” side of the plexiglass. Keep that mask on!
