POTD: The Baker

On my daily walk I’ve gotten in the habit of stopping for a cup of tea downtown before heading home. I am too often tempted to supplement the tea with one of the various bake goods on display–especially when delicious smells from the ovens happen to be wafting about. This day I was able to get by with only taking a zero-calorie photo of one of the lady bakers basking in window light worthy of Vermeer.

Graupel falling on an walking path, collecting in concentration in a crack in the asphalt. Being forced to look almost straight down while walking into a storm gives you a whole different perspective on your surroundings.

POTD: Fading Tribute

Fading Tribute
Headwaters State Park, Montana

This picket fence encloses what are purported to be the graves of a few pioneer children who died long ago. The small enclosure is overgrown in grass and brush and there are no headstones or other identification evident, leaving the fence itself as the only indication of their presence.

POTD: Rose Hips

Even in the largely treeless parts of Montana there are brilliant fall colors to be seen–you just have to look a bit closer. While this photo was taken on a sixty degree sunny day, it followed some stormy below zero weather. This caused the wrinkled appearance on the rose hips.
