Down on the Corner

Nothing too striking about this photograph–except those are two of my photographs wrapping the utility boxes on the corner of Broadway and Park Avenue in downtown Idaho Falls. The full photographs are shown below.
These two photographs have been part of the permanent collection at the Art Museum of Eastern Idaho since about 2008. A couple of years ago they were asked to provide artwork for sprucing up various utility boxes around town and my photographs ended up here. I don’t believe they knew it at the time but this was a very appropriate location for them to appear as I took the photographs just across the street back in 2005. They came from an old Coca Cola mural from the 1950s that had recently been uncovered during a building remodel. A few days after I took the photographs, the mural was sandblasted from the wall.

Interesting and surprising provenance on the wraps and original photos. Does the IF museum document the wraps history?
Thanks Steve. I don’t really know how the IF museum handled the whole wrap project. They just called me and said they were involved with the city on the project and were using various pieces from their collection, so wanted permission to use my images. (While they own the prints they have, I own the copyright meaning they cannot freely reproduce them without permission.)
