I have walked by this tree literally hundreds of times on my almost daily walk over the years and yesterday was the first time I ever noticed this laughing pig by the side of the road.

  1. It’s strange that I can walk by something that has been there for probably ever and never notice the photographic potentials. At other times I walk by something that I have photographed before and try to find the composition and It just doesn’t seem to be there.

    1. Pattern, symmetry, texture, light, color (or tonality in the case of black and white) and other elements of a scene are all things the photographic pundits will tell are important elements of making a good photograph. The state of the photographer’s mind is much less often mentioned but perhaps the most crucial element of success in image making.
