This is an interesting image not only visually (I hope anyway) but also technically. It is a color image yet looks very monochrome; but when I converted it to a monochrome image, it looked considerably flatter and less interesting. The subtle off-white shade of the bark on the aspen trees is unsubtle enough to have a considerable impact on the look of the image.]]>

I agree with your assessment here. I’ve run into images like that myself. Good to use color when it is as subtle as it is in this image. Nicely done.
