POTD: South Shore Line

South Shore Line
Chicago, Illinois
2011

While I know better than to touch the art work at art museums, I never thought window coverings would be much of a problem. However, after I had lifted the edge of a window shade to take yesterday’s photo, I was gently and kindly informed by a guard that I shouldn’t be doing that. So I took this one through the shade. I like the kind of pencil-drawing effect it gives to the photo.

POTD: North Central College Exhibition

North Central College Exhibition
Naperville, Illinois

Nickole Lanham, gallery director and myself after the fun artist reception last night for the Opus Corvus exhibition at North Central College. I was pleased with the way the exhibition was presented and enjoyed some lively and stimulating conversation with those who attended.  I was also pleased when Nickole presented me with the opportunity to extend the exhibit through the middle of November, so if you live in the area there’s still plenty of time to see it.

POTD: Limo Service

Limo Service
Chicago, Illinois
2011

We are in Naperville, Illinois where I will be giving an informal talk tonight at the reception for my Opus Corvus exhibition at North Central College. I’ve done a number of exhibitions in different venues around the country and have received varying degrees of support and attention in attending functions such as this. I have to say that North Central College really knows how to impress an artist. This is the interior of the 12-person stretch limo they sent to pick Connie and I up at the airport in Chicago and deliver us to Naperville last night. This kind of treatment deserved a better photograph but my camera gear was in the trunk and I had to take this low-light photo with my cell phone.

POTD: One Man’s Trash…

One Man’s Trash…
Bozeman, Montana
2011

Thistles are considered a noxious weed in Montana and you’re supposed to eradicate them if they grow on your property. I don’t do that on our land though because I’m cheap, lazy and adverse to blanketing the area (and potentially myself) with pesticides. Besides, try telling all the mountain bluebirds that flock here for the thistle seeds in the fall that they really ought to be better food connoisseurs than to think dining on noxious weeds is a treat.

POTD: Time of the Season

Time of the Season
Bozeman, Montana

I guess today being the autumnal equinox has me seeing something representing the solar system, with the thistle head as the sun, in this photo. And that got me thinking of the changing seasons and that while I don’t really get the current zombie craze, there are some zombies I can relate to:

POTD: Morning in America

Morning in America

I took this photo of dried up balsam root leaves just this morning as the sun was coming up while out on a stroll down our road. While you get two points for citizenship for recognizing the source of the phrase used for the title, no political commentary should be inferred by its use here.
