My father built this birdhouse for us years ago. The Fashion Queen liked its simplicity and shape too much to hang it outside somewhere in the weather. So it’s been sitting on this shelf in our mudroom all this time, collecting a few other “knickknacks” to keep it company.

A few of the seemingly solid rocks in the rock walls we built turned out not so solid and disintegrated over time. In this case the hole left by one of the by-gone rocks was plugged with wish rocks that happened to be sitting nearby. (A wish rock is any rock with a solid band running clear round it. It’s possession grant’s the holder one wish.)

Built at least 30 years ago of used lumber including stock pen rails, this ragged tool/garden shed still serves its storage purpose quite nicely, as well as providing a spot on small porch for a sit-down during a day’s work.

Elk Fence
National Elk Refuge, Wyoming

Bouncing around in my photo archives, I keep finding “unused” images from years ago that seem to deserve some attention. I assume this is a fence to constrain elk given it borders the National Elk Refuge, although most elk fences I’ve seen along highways are full field fence setups.
