POTD: According to the Law

According to the Law
Chloride, Arizona
2025

A law office display that may or may not have ever actually looked like this.

This will be the last POTD for about a week. Today we start driving back to the Mayo Clinic for a (hopefully) routine followup to my heart transplant. It is seeming more and more questionable that driving 1,000 mile in the weather that’s coming makes any sense, but being immunocompromised due to the anti-rejection drugs I’m taking, I didn’t like the thought of spending time in crowded airports and planes in the middle of flu season. At least if we get stuck in a snowdrift somewhere I won’t have to worry about airport contagions while waiting to be rescued.

As I indicated above, POTD will return in about a week.

POTD: A Combination of the Two

A Combination of the Two
Cherry Creek, Nevada
2017

I revisited Cherry Creek in 2017, the first time I’d been there since I took the photo Patriot’s Dream #1 thirteen years earlier (as shown in yesterday’s post). Weather had really taken it’s toll on the flag in the window during that time. I wonder what it looks like now.

I was going to call this image simply Patriot’s Dream #92, but the I realized it also could/should be Sitting Places #31. So I guess it should get a hyphenated name combining those two name.

POTD: Patriot’s Dream #91

Patriot’s Dream #91
Chloride, Arizona
2025

This flag photo reminds me of the very first Patriot’s Dream image I took 21 years ago in Cherry Creek, Nevada. It too was in the window of a small white cabin, only in a more rundown condition than the cabin in today’s photo. Here’s that photo:

POTD: Train Ride to Crazy Town

Train Ride to Crazy Town
Chloride, Arizona
2025

When I was in the hospital at the Mayo Clinic for six months, about half that time I was delirious and often suffered very realistic hallucinations. Or  in short I called it spending time in Crazy Town. Some of the scenes I experienced seemed like normal situations until I thought about them more and they became anything but normal. This photo is a benign example–it looks like an old gas station (and likely was) but the gas pumps are for three different brands of gasoline. And of course there’s the railroad running so close to the pumps you’d be hard pressed to drive a car on the front side of the pumps. Knowing that Chloride, Arizona contains a lot of odd collections of antiques makes this scene seem understandable and not particularly weird to me. That was not the same for some of my adventures in Crazy Town. One instance of my delusional state even involved being on a railroad of sorts and that train ride was not benign or pleasant at all. My advice: stay away from Crazy Time.
