It was natural lighting just before sunset. The lighting was what drew me to taking the photo of what otherwise was a rather common and mundane prickly pear cactus. About all I did in processing the image was to darken the outer areas of to emphasize the cactus itself. That does sort of give it a “lit by flash” look.
