POTD: Out of the Woods

Out of the Woods
Bozeman, Montana
2018

I’ve been fooling around for some time trying to add to my collection of “Masters in Yellowstone” composite photos. (See examples here, here, and here.) I’d like to create something based on works of either Dali or Picasso but have not produced much but frustration.

This image morphed out of an attempt to go in the direction of Picasso’s blue period. While I like the image a lot, its connection to Picasso is quite tenuous in my estimation; only the color suggests Picasso at all, and then just a bit.

I’ll keep trying but this one is a keeper for my broader composite image portfolio. It’s always nice to make some progress, even if it’s not in the direction I intended.

  1. I like this composite very much too! The blue suggests the brutally cold winters of Yellowstone that the bison have survived for 1000s of years. But the blue alone would never suggest Picasso to me! 😉
