Battling Elk
Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming
2017
I wish I could say I took this photo of two back-lit elk bulls just as the sun was going down when I was out in the woods the other day. But in reality it was taken mid-day on the lawn between some administrative buildings at Mammoth Hot Springs. The low back light? That was courtesy of the early afternoon sun reflecting off of a car windshield.
Regardless of the time of day – it’s a dandy picture.
Thanks Mike!
This is a photo that needs to be seen on a computer screen instead of an iPhone. I’m glad I came back and visited it on my computer. It’s beautiful!
Thanks Carol. I might add that it’s not too much of an overstatement to say that all photos are best viewed on a larger screen. My POTDs post automatically to my Facebook page. For some reason Facebook crops them rather arbitrarily and posts a rather unsharp version of the result, so people who see them on Facebook and don’t bother to click on the image (which takes them to the full image on my blog) really miss out. Many of them probably think I’m a lousy photographer!
