Spa Treatment
Yellowstone National Park
2017
It turns out that the trail that the bison in yesterday’s photograph was preventing me from traversing was right next to a small buffalo wallow. So perhaps he was just being protective of his favorite spa. After watching him for a while he did a few rolls in the dust. This shot was taken just after he jumped up and was shaking himself off.
I love this photo!
Thanks Carol!
Great back light emphasizing the dust he’s shaking off. Do you know or have you noticed whether bison “shiver” their skin like horses do to get rid of flies, etc.?
Nope, no “horse shiver” that I noticed. I don’t think bison do subtle very well.
