Ice-solated
Ennis Lake, Montana
2014
Even with all the bare ground and warm temperatures, most of the local lakes are still well-encased in ice. I’ve even seen people out ice fishing. I suppose they’ve tested the ice thickness and are sure it’s strong enough to support them, but still, something about fishing on ice when it’s 50 degrees outside doesn’t seem like a real good idea.
This image looks like it’s an aerial shot, but my feet were firmly on the ground, just at a higher elevation next to the lake.
Is that “island” really small or just a long ways from you? I really like this one…the texture in the ice….it feels like a visual haiku.
That island is probably 30 or 40 feet long. I was toying with trying to think of a haiku to go with it–it’s definitely got the bones for one.
