It reminds me of the Millennium Falcon escaping from the space slug when they hid inside the “cave” on an asteroid. The split looks like the mouth of the slug as it tries to bite down on the Falcon before it can escape.
I don’t remember the space slug from the movie, but now that you mention it, I do see the mouth and the slug-like shape. (Slugs being what they are, I’m not sure if that imagery improves my appreciation of the photo though!)
