Screen Door Slam
Pony, Montana
2012
With the invention of storm doors and those gas-charged cylinders that slow the door’s closing I suppose you have to be of a certain advanced age before the slam of a screen door triggers any particular childhood memories.]]>
We still have a wooden screen door that slams shut (on our screened-in porch). I love it . And many times, I wonder what the neighbors think when I leave a loud bang as I go through it. I hope it lasts a long time. (Hey! Are you saying I’m of a certain advanced age???)
I will always love doors and porches like this one much more than the stuff that is available now.
Well, Carol, by the nature of your response I’d say you are self-identifying as being of a certain advanced age!
And the creaking of the door, too. Guess I am of that “certain advanced age” because I can definitely hear the slam of the door. Love the textures in this photo – and you know my love of door/window photos. B&W is obviously the right choice for this photo. Hope you are feeling better. 🙂
Feeling better every day Judy.
It means someone must be coming in from or going out into the garage. Or at least it did at the old house on McComas.
I’d forgotten about that particular screen door Randy. It was the only non-storm door on the house.
<> . . . and the sound of squeaking hinges and complaining spring just before the slam at the back door, front door, grocery store – just about everywhere!
Yeah James, I guess there are lots of sounds, screen door and otherwise, signifying coming and going.
