Conventional wisdom has it that some snail shells, like the nautilus shell, follow the shape of a golden spiral. The boring truth however seems to be that while these shells follow logarithmic spirals, roughly meaning they grow wider with every revolution and the rate of that growth is a constant, they typically do not exhibit the rate constant required to be a true golden spiral.]]>

In addition to enjoying photographing outside for this series for now, I’m also glad to be back to working with low key (darker) images rather than the high key (lighter) shots I was doing for the studio work. I really like high key  images, but it doesn’t seem to be my natural state.]]>
