This rather contradictory message was painted on some old equipment in a defunct mining district west of Norris, MT. It was put there, I presume, by a bored miner with a sense of humor or a poor understanding of the basics of economics.

Still Life With Wish Rock

Another shot from around the house. What’s a wish rock? It’s a rock of a particular color that has a ring of a different color (sometimes more than one ring) going all the way around it. If you find one, you get to make a wish on it. You can’t really tell from the photo, but that’s a wish rock on the floor next to the vase–hence the title of the image.

I guess it’s kind of a stretch to include this image in this series, but this is in fact a photo of our wet spring. It’s a composite image I made from a shot of raindrops hanging off the bottom of the railing on the balcony at our house. I’m not sure what prompted me to mess with the image this way, just following one of those wild hair impulses I guess.
