A rather lovely still life image that I had only a minor part in creating. Most of the credit goes to the Fashion Queen for the choice of vessels and flower arrangement, but also to the morning sun for providing the lighting effect.  All I had to do once I noticed it was grab my camera and click away.

An industrious Italian ice seller pushed his cart about a half mile on a hot day to provide a free cold treat to attendees at a charity event we were attending in a nature area along the East Gallatin River.

Something about this sign you come across when you first enter Atlantic City, as well as the surrounding area, made me think that my ideas of what it means to love, honor, and respect the flag differs considerably from that of the sign’s owner. It’s certainly a more aggressive version of the “love it or leave it” epithet that was so popular in the ’60s and ’70s. At any rate, having felt so welcomed  by the sign, we took a quick swing through this small, ugly town and then in fact got the hell out. I don’t miss them either.

I think of images like this one and the others I took at South Pass City as Wright Morris photos, named after the writer and photographer who excelled in producing this type of work, not because he spent time going through historical sites like I do, but because he spent his childhood and early creative life living in similar environments.
