Summer Camp
Nelson, Nevada
2025
Travel to camp in style in the Canyon Express. Note the air conditioner in the back window–sort of a swamp cooler type deal whose fan was propelled by the wind while driving. Hopefully it was somewhat of an improvement over 8/60 air conditioning: eight windows down, 60 mph. (For you fact checkers out there, I’m counting only windows that were supposed to have glass in them and were meant to operate up and down at the time.)
Definitely looks like a good time!
Yes it does, except maybe in the heat of the summer.
Lots of interesting vehicles in Nelson, Nevada. Would have been quite an adventure just getting to camp in the Canyon Express. This reminds me of our old Chevy station wagon. We didn’t have the fancy air conditioner like this has but we did utilize the 4/60 method.
I never had air conditioning in a vehicle until I sometime after we moved to Montana from Alaska. Which is kind of a strange place to finally have a vehicle with ac considering I spent four years in Arizona with nothing but 2/60 ac (I always drove pickups so only had 2 operating windows) and of course my motorcycle. And that begs the question, what do you call such natural ac when it’s a motorcycle? 0/60, 360/60 (for degrees) or what?
When Michele and I were married in Dubois, the Lodge we held the festivities in had an old White bus like this. It transported the brides party to the ceremony and the wedding party back to the celebration dinner. I believe it was a couple of seats shorter though, maybe only a 12 seater. https://visityellowstonecountry.com/buses-of-yellowstone-touring-as-in-yesteryear
Well, I missed all that fun back in the day, guess I was hiding out somewhere in Alaska when you two got married.
