I posted another photo of this building a week or so ago here. This photo was taken from a different angle later the same day. I think I like this more imposing one better.

Just by coincidence we watched a video clip from the climax scene of the movie The Blues Brothers the other day. Much to my surprise, this building figured prominently in the scene. It was more more serene when we were walking by than it was in the movie which was maximally crazy.

POTD: House Moe

Forty-two years ago when we first arrived in Montana, we spent a night in this hotel. It was a cheap, o.k. place to stay even though our tub/shower setup was missing one of its sliding glass doors so you had to kind of pick the best position for the one door to block as much spray from the shower as possible. I don’t believe the place has seen much in the way of upgrades since then, but it’s still open and it always seems to be full.

POTD: Riding High

In the funky Bohemian northeast section of Bozeman, there used to be a house with several old bicycles perched up on the peak of the roof. They were there for at least a good thirty years I think. A few years ago that house succumbed to the creeping gentrification that has infected the area and the bikes are no longer there. Sometime later this tricycle appeared on the roof of a shed in a nearby alley. I don’t know for sure why it’s there but I’ve always taken it to be a nod to those bicycle landmarks from Bozeman’s “good ole days.”
