The Universal Plant
County Mayo
Ireland
2019
The agave does not grow everywhere but I don’t know that I’ve traveled anywhere there is a moderate to warm or hot climate that does not sport some agave plants, either in neighborhood landscaping or formal gardens or greenhouses. That ubiquity is o.k. by me as I have yet to tire photographing them.
I associate agave with the desert so I’m surprised you found one in relatively wet Ireland! Love the high key treatment…
Thanks Kathy! I think the agave is native to desert areas but quite adaptable to survive or thrive anywhere it does not get too cold and is given half a chance.
On viewing this again, it reminds me strongly of some of Edward Weston’s work…very shape/sculptural!
Thanks Kathy. It’s always pleasant to be favorably compared to Weston!
