This set up in particular looks like it was purposely arranged, possibly by the rangers/caretakers of the park as was done in the past at Bodie State Park. Do you know whether this is the case? The signs make the photos! 🙂
I think it was a mix of purposely and haphazardly arranged stuff; much of it is really just a junkyard. The place is owned and run by a guy who put it all together himself. It’s hokey in a lot of ways but an interesting and charming hokiness to a large degree. He only charged a couple of bucks to wander around. I can’t imagine he’s supporting himself with the place–I was there by myself for my whole visit.
