  1. Good one. Elicited curiosity, tension and interest. Kinda “what happens next?” I know you don’t photoshop but I can’t help but wonder what the photo would look like without the tree and fence.

    1. Steve, first of all I “photoshop” everything, as that’s the software I use to process my digital images. I don’t as a rule do any major remaking of objects in a photograph though, which is what most people think of when they think of photoshopping an image. As far as this particular image, the tree and the fence with its leading line, are what attracted me to this scene in the first place, so I never even thought of altering the image, or perhaps moving over a bit so as not to include the fence and tree in the image in the first place. That said, it’s interesting to contemplate whether an image with just the hill and clouds could hold up well in its own right.

  2. I like the way the shape of the tree echoes the shape of the lower cloud. The tree & the fence also provide a sense of scale for me.

    1. Kathy, with the similarity between the tree and the cloud, perhaps this qualifies as part of my dualities series (although perhaps a much more subtle duality than most).
