POTD: Pritzker Abstract #1

Pritzker Abstract #1
Chicago, Illinois
2011

If you’re a photographer and a fan of dramatic architectural abstracts, then any Frank Gehry designed structure is heaven–a well trampled heaven to be sure (covered by many, many, photographers), but quite irresistible nonetheless. This is from the Jay Pritzger Pavilion, a bandshell in Millennium Park.

  1. Great abstract Larry. This is quite a place. I did a small series here after my wife and I visited the Art Institute last April. I only posted one wanting to return with a better camera. As Arnold said, “I’ll be back.” I’m really enjoying your take on Chicago. There’s a “do it yourself” tour of Chicago’s usually off limits architectural places this weekend. I’ve got to steal some time and get down there.

    1. Thanks Bruce. I saw the Pritzger photo you posted before I went to Chicago so was hesitant to do something similar myself. But I thought what the heck do it anyway. I also photographed it five or six years ago when I was there on business. I’ll have to go back and compare what I did then to what I did this time. Perhaps I copied myself! Wow, I wish I could be there for that tour this weekend. I’ll have to check out your results once you get them posted.
