It’s not likely it is what it was intended to be but that’s what I thought of when I saw it. If the age of these pictographs is suspect (to me anyway) as I mentioned yesterday, then it’s possible that it post-dates rather than pre-dates Duchamp’s painting that this pictograph made me think of.

Some really unusual pictographs, both in terms of characters depicted and variety of colors used. Unusual enough for me to question their antiquity although I’m certainly not knowledgeable enough to actually claim they’re of recent origin.

While walking along the edge of Lake Michigan, I was able to collect a number of abstract images of tar on asphalt, one of my favorite subjects.

From a distance, I thought this was just some random graffiti on this bollard at Lake Michigan. But on closer inspection I noticed the empty text balloon waiting for a pronouncement from adjacent face.

Cyclops

To me, this is a very compelling sculptural piece. I’m not sure why though, and I doubt it was meant to resemble an eye at all. But cyclops is the name that came to mind for whatever reason. I do like the contrast between the smoothly and precisely sculpted ball shape and the rough surrounding rock.
