On a boardwalk hike yesterday we were greeted by this flock of some 100+ ibis who were working their way through the mangrove swamp scavenging for food. It appeared they were mostly feasting on half-dollar size mangrove crabs.

Riding the Wind

Winds of 25+ mph were keeping most of the birds at the Merritt Island National  Wildlife Refuge close to the ground. The turkey vultures however took it all in stride and seemed to have no problems soaring around at will.
