POTD: Tea Time for Tiger

I think it might be an interesting reality TV show (at least interesting relative to the other kinds of reality shows that are out there right now) to collect a bunch of miscellaneous items like these and give them to a group of interior decorators to see who does the best job of integrating the items into a modern household. Of course there would have to be a time limit on the process so we could watch them all become angst ridden at the last moment as to whether the tiger should go on the mantel or on the bathroom counter. Oh, what drama that would create.

POTD: Ladies Love Outlaws

I just saw the Elvis Presley movie Jailhouse Rock on TV a couple of weeks ago. My favorite scene from the movie was when Vince Everett (Elvis) kisses Peggy Van Alden and she objects, saying “How dare you think such cheap tactics would work with me!” Vince replies “That ain’t tactics, honey. It’s just the beast in me.

Here’s a video of the title song from the movie. The original movie was in black and white and while I don’t generally like colorization, I found this video oddly more interesting in color.

POTD: Model Citizens #7

Way back when I used to occasionally play the original version of the Trivial Pursuit game. After playing the game for a while, one strategy I came up with for guessing when I didn’t know the answer to a question was to guess John Kennedy if it was a question about a man and Marilyn Monroe if the question was about a woman. That didn’t always work, but there were so many questions about those two in the game it certainly improved the odds. That same obsession with these icons of history carries over to antique stores too. (Recall John Kennedy in the background of Model Citizens #1).
