Pilgrim is a 19 year old Turkey Vulture, or turkey vulture depending on whose rules of bird name capitalization you are following–something I’ve been confused and inconsistent about myself. No chance of Pilgrim weighing in on the issue, except with a grunt or hiss, as the species lacks any vocal organs.]]>

Immediately thought this would be a picture of your good ol’ dog, Pilgrim – I remember one great photo you once posted of him. These bird pictures are great – they look so distinguished – I think the B&W lends a lot to that “air”. We have an owl just like Bu that sits on our chimney every evening/morning and we enjoy listening to his who-ing – unless of course it is at 2 in the morning!
Yeah, the name reminded me of my Pilgrim as well. My dog Pilgrim was a great companion even as dogs go, and much better than a vulture by the same name I imagine.
