I think I’ve mentioned before that while I will occasionally take photos like this, I rarely share them here because people will think I exaggerated the colors in the photo compared to what they would really have seen if they were standing there when the photo was taken. But if anything the colors and look in this photo are not quite as wild as what we really saw from our balcony several days ago.

You shouldn’t care what others think. Do what makes you enjoy it. After all, YOU are the artist.
Mostly the matching of the photo to reality is not of much interest to me. I do what I want to do. And of course the issue of a photo not representing reality in terms of color and the like is completely removed when I’m processing images in black and white. Either way I pretty much do what I want to do and in general what I don’t want to do very often is photograph a rainbow or sunset or the like–I’d rather just watch the phenomenon and leave the landscape porn images to the calendar folks.
