One morning during a rainstorm this little bird smacked into to the glass on our patio door and knocked itself out, if not dead altogether. I picked it up and brought it into the house to see if I could revive it somehow. Once I got in the house I realized that was a bad place to bring it because of our cathedral ceilings–if it did revive and decide to fly off, we’d have a really hard time corralling it or steering it outside, so I carried it out to our mudroom on the other side of the house and set it down there. I was going to go find a little box and some bedding for it but before I got a few steps away it jumped up and flew around, landing where you see it in this photo. I opened the door and after a little coaxing (and after it left its calling card on the windowsill), it flew off looking no worse for the wear.
