There was plenty of bird seed and suet hanging from an adjacent branch on the tree, but this Gila woodpecker seemed to have a sweet tooth that wouldn’t quit.

Our resident woodpecker just likes to peck on our downspout – have not seen him enjoying the hummingbird feeder – at least not yet…
Someone told me that male woodpeckers (and flickers) peck on metal because they like to make loud noises during mating season to attract female mates. You know, kind of like humans do.
