Well over half of this cholla cactus is dead, parts to the point that revealing it’s dried skeletal remains. Yet it is showing an amazing amount of healthy looking new growth.

  1. It reminds me of those “nursery”fallen trees in the lush forests along the Oregon Coast. Hope they all make it.

    1. I hadn’t thought of that but it’s a very good analogy. One advantage these cholla joints have is that, should they fall from their roost, they are perfectly capable of sending roots down into the soil directly without aid of a nursery cactus.
